President Donald Trump spoke in Dubuque, Iowa, and traveled to Salina, Kansas, to hold rallies in the final days of the midterm campaign, ABC News reported. His swing through both states comes as Republicans work to maintain control of the Senate and the House of Representatives, according to ABC News and Al Jazeera. Speaking for two hours in Dubuque, Trump asserted that Republicans were on the verge of sweeping victories on Election Day. [1][8]

Republicans in Iowa and Kansas face strong Democratic challenges that threaten the current Republican majorities in Congress, ABC News reported. Meanwhile, Democrats encountered division in Michigan, which could affect their campaign to gain control of the Senate, according to ABC News. In another legal development, a federal judge dismissed an attempt by the Trump administration to stop the certification of Senate election results in Alaska if the Republican incumbent lost, NPR reported. [1][7]

As FTMQ Politics reported earlier, Trump previously visited Sioux City, Iowa, to support candidates including Representative Ashley Hinson, who is campaigning for an open Senate seat. Iowa is a landlocked state in the Upper Midwest with a population of 3.19 million, and its capital is Des Moines. [13][17]

The midterm elections will take place on Tuesday, ABC News and Fox News reported. The results will determine which party controls the Senate and the House of Representatives, the two chambers that form the United States Congress. [1][10][14]
