President Donald Trump held a campaign rally in South Carolina on Thursday to support Republican Senator Darline Graham ahead of next week's midterm elections, according to The Hill and The New York Times. NPR Politics and RealClearPolitics reported that this was Trump's second visit to the state within eight days. The visit comes as the contest between Graham and Democratic candidate Annie Andrews tightens. [1][2][4][5][10]

Polling in the final stretch shows the Senate race in South Carolina tied, according to the Guardian. South Carolina, which borders North Carolina and Georgia, has a population of 5.5 million people across 46 counties. As FTMQ Politics reported earlier, Trump previously attacked Andrews on social media as the race narrowed. [11][12][16]

National political organizations are directing new resources into the state. Politico Congress reported that the Senate Majority PAC, a Democratic group, is running digital advertisements supporting Andrews. This marks the first time the political action committee has spent money in the South Carolina race. [4]

The Hill, RealClearPolitics, and MS NOW all report that Republicans are displaying concern over holding the seat. Graham is running for the Senate seat formerly held by her late sibling, according to The Hill. [2][5][8]
