Trump Rules Out Military Strikes Against Iran Before Midterm Elections

President Donald Trump stated on October 8, 2026, that the United States military will not conduct strikes against Iran prior to the November 3 midterm elections. Politico, The Hill, and Courthouse News Service all reported that Trump ruled out military attacks ahead of the election date, with Trump noting that the administration is conducting productive discussions with Iran. The White House confirmed that Trump retains all options regarding military action. The Hill reported that executive officials kept all possibilities available as the administration considers whether to resume major combat operations before or after upcoming elections in the United States and Israel.
