President Donald Trump declined on Tuesday to state whether he would endorse Vice President JD Vance for the Republican presidential nomination in 2028. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump stated that the two men have never discussed the matter. The Washington Examiner and The Hill both reported on his response during a White House appearance. [1][2]

The response followed remarks made by Vance on Monday, when he stated he believed Trump would back him if he chose to seek the White House in 2028. According to The Hill, Vance said he expected to get the endorsement but added that candidates should run their own races. [2][4]

Trump described Vance as a talented and good person while speaking alongside him. However, the Washington Examiner reported that Trump denied ever talking about a potential campaign with Vance, directly addressing Vance's previous claims. [1][2]

The exchange occurred as Trump and Vance announced the creation of a Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program in the Oval Office on Tuesday. The Hill and WTOP News reported that the program is backed by 25 million dollars and aims to encourage the public to report federal fraud. [3][5][6]
