An attack by Iranian-backed Houthis on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam killed one person and injured eight others on Wednesday evening. The Hill, Breakingthenews.net, BNO News, NDTV, and Sada Elbalad English all reported the casualty figures following a statement from Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation. The Hill added that eight people were hospitalized due to their injuries. [1][6][7][8][9]

Following the strike in Dammam, the United States government ordered some personnel and diplomats to leave Saudi Arabia. CBS News, Fox News, and WTOP News reported that the departure orders were issued as concerns and fears grew over escalating Houthi attacks against the kingdom. [2][3][4]

Military support is also being deployed to assist the kingdom. Deutsche Welle Europe reported that the United Kingdom is sending fighter jets and military support to protect Saudi Arabia from repeated attacks by Iran-aligned Houthi rebels. [5]

Saudi Arabia occupies the bulk of the Arabian Peninsula in West Asia, bordering Yemen to the south and the Persian Gulf to the east. As FTMQ Politics reported earlier, the kingdom faced unrelated international scrutiny in federal courts regarding a long-running September 11 lawsuit and an espionage case involving a former OpenAI engineer.
