Attorneys for Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook criticized a White House panel probing her, while not ruling out an appearance before it.

Lawyers for Federal Reserve Board of Governors member Lisa Cook called a White House investigation committee set up by President Donald Trump demonstrably biased on October 14, 2026. The Hill and ABC News both reported that the legal team criticized the panel for using unspecified additional allegations and an unclear schedule for disclosing evidence. [1][2]
Despite questioning the fairness of the panel, Cook's attorneys did not rule out the possibility that she would appear before it, according to ABC News. CNBC reported that her counsel expressed doubts about the fairness of the panel as President Trump referred to Cook as an automatic no vote. Quartz reported that her lawyer asked the White House to delay a hearing scheduled for November 5. [2][3][5]
As FTMQ Politics reported earlier, President Trump created the three-person committee to probe mortgage fraud allegations against Cook as he seeks her removal. Cook has strongly contested the fraud allegations. A divided Supreme Court blocked a previous attempt by Trump to fire her, and Trump notified Cook that he was considering her removal. [10]
Cook was sworn in as a member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in 2022 and is the first Black woman to serve on the board. She previously served on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and worked as a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. [8]
