President Donald Trump campaigned in Michigan on Sunday to support Republican candidates ahead of the upcoming midterm elections, BBC News US and ABC News Politics reported. During an appearance in the state, Trump invited rapper Nicki Minaj onto the stage. BBC News US and the Washington Examiner both reported that Minaj addressed the crowd, stating that Trump had changed the energy of the country and given people a future to look forward to. [1][2][4]

The event targeted the competitive Michigan Senate race between Republican candidate Mike Rogers and Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed, according to BBC News US and ABC News Politics. Rogers, a former congressman backed by Trump, is seeking to win the open Senate seat created by the retirement of Democratic Senator Gary Peters. ABC News Politics reported that El-Sayed is a former public health official. [1][4]

Before Minaj took the stage, Trump commented publicly on her body, according to reports from BBC News US and the Washington Examiner. Minaj, a Trinidadian rapper and singer, has previously described herself as a strong supporter of Trump despite expressing criticism of some policies during his first presidential term, BBC News US reported. [1][2][12]

The rally took place as both major parties focus on key races ahead of Election Day on 3 November, according to BBC News US and ABC News Politics. The Hill reported that the Trump administration is also increasing warnings regarding voter fraud as election day approaches. [1][3][4]
