Jin serves as the chair of the National Assembly's National Defense Committee, Korea JoongAng Daily reported. His travel was delayed by days of uncertainty until the visa matter was settled. [1]
Korea JoongAng Daily said the resolution required South Korea's defense minister and foreign minister to step in directly. A visa for another top ruling party lawmaker was also previously denied. [1]
The diplomatic resolution has raised broader concerns regarding communication channels and trust between the two ally nations, Korea JoongAng Daily reported. [1]
