The Congressional Leadership Fund, the primary super PAC for House Republicans, has canceled political spending in four midterm races located from the Midwest to the East Coast, ABC News reported on Tuesday. ABC News also reported that the group expanded its investments in 16 other contests spanning from Texas to Pennsylvania. [1]

The adjustment in financial strategy points to an increasingly defensive position for Republicans with three weeks remaining in the campaign, according to ABC News. Concurrently, Democrats are seeking to raise funds to support candidates who were previously considered unlikely to succeed. [1]

National polling numbers present challenge for the party. Roll Call reported that President Donald Trump carries a job approval rating near 37 percent, with around 60 percent of Americans expressing disapproval of his performance. Despite these figures, House Republicans have voted alongside the president an average of 97 percent of the time in 2026, Roll Call stated. [2][3]

State legislative chambers are facing competitive races as well. Ballotpedia News reported that all 110 seats in the Michigan House of Representatives are scheduled for election on November 3, 2026. Republicans hold a 58-52 majority in the chamber, where Democrats need to gain four seats to secure control. [4]
