Supreme Court sets January calendar for jury and zoning disputes

The United States Supreme Court released its January argument calendar on the afternoon of November 2, 2026, setting six oral arguments across five days. SCOTUSblog reported that the court will hear cases from January 11 to January 13, and will resume arguments from January 19 to January 20. [1]

The justices will hear oral arguments on January 13 in Kian v. Florida, according to SCOTUSblog. The case involves a Florida man who is challenging the state's use of six-person juries in criminal trials. [1]

One week later on January 20, the court will hear Missionaries of Saint John the Baptist v. Frederic, SCOTUSblog reported. The legal dispute involves a Catholic church in northern Kentucky and a couple living across the street who oppose the church's plans to construct a shrine to the Virgin Mary. [1]

The newly scheduled cases add to the court's upcoming term docket. As FTMQ Politics reported earlier, the justices are also set to consider federal habeas corpus limits in Guerrero v. Johnson on November 4, alongside an ERISA retirement fund lawsuit involving Intel Corporation. [11][12]
