House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries campaigned on Sunday in Toledo, Ohio, for Representative Marcy Kaptur in a heavily contested congressional district. ABC News, the Toronto Star, the Goshen News, and the Eagle-Tribune reported that Jeffries expressed confidence in the election climate for Democrats as the party attempts to win back majority control of the House of Representatives. [1][3][4][5]

During his appearance in Ohio, Jeffries criticized President Donald Trump for his abrupt decision to waive sanctions on Russia, ABC News reported. Jeffries stated that there will be a bipartisan effort within the House of Representatives to pursue a new sanctions package that the president cannot waive. [1]

According to a poll conducted by ABC News, the Washington Post, and Ipsos, Democrats lead Republicans in overall House vote choice. Google News reported that the same survey showed President Trump's approval rating reaching a record low. [2]
