Elon Musk has contributed another 76 million dollars to support Republican candidates, Politico Congress reported. The new funds bring his total spending in this election cycle to 442 million dollars, according to Politico Congress, while CNBC reported his campaign contributions at 366 million dollars. [1][3]
The election outcomes carry significant stakes for Musk's commercial ventures, including SpaceX and Tesla, CNBC reported. Separately, tech journalist Kara Swisher characterized Musk as unelected, unaccountable, and enormously wealthy during an examination of his business strategies and growing political influence, NPR Politics reported. The Hill reported that Swisher predicted Democrats would attempt to imprison Musk if they regain control of government. [3][4][5]
Musk serves as the chief executive officer and largest shareholder of both Tesla and SpaceX. Forbes estimates his net worth at 1.1 trillion dollars as of October 2026, making him the wealthiest person in the world. [7]
Outside of political funding, Musk faces legal action in Texas after his artificial intelligence companies xAI and X filed a countersuit against his former girlfriend Ashley St. Clair, Courthouse News Service reported. St. Clair alleged that Musk's chatbot Grok was used to generate explicit images of her, while the companies contend the lawsuit must be filed in Texas instead of New York. [2]
